The test

How I judge a pocket.

1. Depth
The top of the phone sits below the opening. If it peeks out, it will bounce and dump.
2. Placement
Hip height, where your hands already rest — not mid-thigh, not so far back you look for a tail.
3. The phone test
Walk, sit, and — for shorts — jog without clutching. Reviews should name a specific phone.
4. Zipper, or not
Open is fine on a midi. Short running shorts need a zip. A zip is not a substitute for depth.
